Eid Greetings!

After a year long, a blessed bodu eid happened with Joy and happiness. Going eid prayer early morning at 7:30 is itself a big event gathering muslim brotherhood in mosque and wishing the greetings to each other with big heart. Friends, families and acquantices at distance use modern technology of SMS, Social Network chats, E-mails, Post Cards etc..to wish.

People unlike other prayers, use marvellous perfumes and costumes (specially a complete new cloth) in eid prayer/ eid days. The cloths and gowns might be ready from very begnning and they were neatly ironed. Chilren of ages 2 to 9 years shed tears on their eyes to put on mahendi both on their palms and feet. Children  wake up early morning on eid day with great joy and smiles on their face knowing that the parents have bought new cloths for them, parents have special tasty foods, and knowing the evening sporty activitities and evening shows.

It is a well known tradition, preparing an eid boakiba every house. Eid Boakia is treated after eid prayer with family members and elders always make sure that eid boakiba is never eaten completely without sharing portions and slices with the neighbours.

Friends and family and neighbourhood share many joy visiting homes, exchanging delicious taste of foods among them.

The island, Ihavandhoo like other islands give special importance to celebrate the eid colorfully. Over the last decade, Ihavandhoo Masveringe Gulhun - IMAGU and Club PoleStar did wonderful programs during eid festival. Some of the usual happenings of eid are;

- a barbeque night (on kuda eid) organized by IMAGU recent times.
- Broadcasting of eid songs and wishes to islands from loud speakers (IMAGU and PoleStar)
- An organized family evening activites.
- Some years after eid prayer - dhigu magu dhadi jehun with thaara and bodu beru.
- Bandhiyaa and dhadi jehun - night shows - all songs are ihavandian based/ no borrowings
-Short Dramas/ Dialogues, Comedies and Dances (traditional and Contemporary)
-Koadi Negun.
-Maali parade and maali hedhdhun
-Bodu mas dhuvvun/ bodu mas beynun - evening and night
-matches - football, volleyball, bashi etc.
-olden days, eid hulhu jehun and eid beru
-cultural dinner night
-Magic shows and gymnasim
-island award ceremony and many more...

Just I have mentioned only some activites for readers information. Hopefully, this eid also  may be one of the best eid for Ihavandhoo.
